TOWSON, Md. – Despite a defensive save from Carli Herman, the Towson University field hockey team fell to No. 8 Delaware, 7-0 on Friday evening in Johnny Unitas® Stadium.

The eighth-ranked Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens (14-2, 4-0 CAA) converted three penalty corner opportunities to defeat Towson (2-14, 0-4 CAA).

How it Happened
  • Delaware scored three goals in the first nine minutes of play. Greta Nauck converted two penalty corner chances with both goals assisted by Kiki Bink and Marjelle Scheffers. The Blue Hens' second goal during that run was unassisted by Lisa Giezeman.
  • Herman made an impressive play, denying Nauck of a scoring chance in the game's eighth minute. The defensive save is the second of her career.
  • The Blue Hens outshot Towson 11-0 in the first half as Towson recorded five first-half saves.
  • Sydney Rhodes started the second half in goal for Delaware, relieving Emmeline Oltmans. Oltmans did not have to make a save over the first 35 minutes.
  • Delaware added four second-half goals to earn the 7-0 win over Towson. Taylor Lister scored in the game's 42nd minute, assisted by Giezeman. Six minutes later, Lauren Crudele scored unassisted. Michaela Scanlon scored unassisted in the 57th minute for the Blue Hens. With five minutes left in the game, Lister scored her second of the day, assisted by Sabrina Rhodes.
