Carola Biver were not enough Wednesday night as the Towson University volleyball team fell to the University of Delaware, 3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Towson and Delaware went back-and-forth in the first set as there were eight ties and three lead changes. With the score tied at 6-6, Towson (19-7, 6-5 CAA) used a 11-7 run to take a 17-13 lead. Junior Payton Windell had four kills during that run. Towson pushed its lead to 21-15 on a kill from Windell. Delaware responded with a 9-2 run of its own and took a 24-23 edge. Kori Rasmussen had a pair of service aces during that stretch. The two teams traded points before back-to-back kills from Corey Perkins and Erin Layne gave Delaware a 28-26 set win.
- The Tigers scored eight of the first 11 points in the second set and forced Delaware to call an early timeout. Sophomore Jocelyn Kuilan had a pair of kills while senior Lindsay Flaherty recorded a kill and had a hand in three Tiger blocks. Towson pushed its lead to 15-9 on a kill from Flaherty. The Blue Hens (10-14, 4-7 CAA) used a 7-2 run to pull to within one, 17-16. Following a Towson timeout, Delaware scored five of the next six points and took a 21-18 lead. Lauren Talley had a pair of kills during that run. The two teams battled down the stretch before an Alexa Swann kill secured a 25-21 set win and a 2-0 lead for the Blue Hens.
- Three straight service aces from Kuilan gave Towson a 7-6 lead in the third set. The two teams traded points as a kill from senior Jessica Lewis allowed the Tigers to tie the set at 10-10. Delaware scored five of the next six points and took a 15-11 advantage. Talley had three kills during that stretch. Towson pulled to within two, twice including 23-21 on a Lewis service ace. However, Delaware locked up the match win with a 25-21 set win on a kill from Autumn Jenkins.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Delaware hit .312 in the match while holding the Tigers to a .248 hitting percentage. The Blue Hens finished with one more kill, 48-47.
- The Blue Hens had eight service aces while the Tigers recorded six.
- Wonders finished with 24 assists and 12 digs for her team and CAA leading 16th double-double of the year. Biver posted 11 kills and 11 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.
- Kuilan led the Tigers with 13 kills and four service aces.
- Redshirt sophomore Anna Holehouse had a match-high 17 digs.
- Jenkins led Delaware with 16 kills and 13 digs while Talley had 12 kills. Both players hit over .400 for the match.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Oct. 28 as they travel to Elon for a 7 p.m. match.
