HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was a back-and-forth battle that featured seven ties and three lead changes. Trailing 10-7, Towson used an 8-2 run to take a 15-12 advantage. Sophomore Jocelyn Kuilan had a pair of kills and a service ace during that stretch. Northeastern (15-5, 5-1 CAA) responded with a 7-2 run of its own and took a 19-17 edge. The two teams traded points and found themselves tied at 22-22 on a kill from redshirt senior Candace Steadman. A pair of blocks and an attack error by the Tigers gave Northeastern a 25-22 set win.
- A kill from junior Payton Windell gave Towson a 10-6 lead in the second set. Lewis used a service ace to give the visitors a 13-9 advantage in the set. A 5-1 run extended the Towson lead to 20-16. Windell and Lewis had kills during that stretch. A block from sophomore Carola Biver and senior Lindsay Flaherty pushed the Towson (15-5, 3-3 CAA) lead to 23-18. The Tigers closed out a 25-19 set win on an attack error by the Huskies.
- A kill from Steadman allowed the Tigers to open up a 7-3 lead in the third set. Towson pushed its advantage to 14-7 on back-to-back kills from Flaherty. Back-to-back service aces from Flaherty gave Towson a 19-8 lead in the set. The two teams continued to battle as a kill from Windell gave Towson a 25-13 set win and a 2-1 lead in the match.
- Back-to-back blocks gave the Huskies a 12-6 lead in the fourth set. A kill from Brigitte Burcescu put Northeastern on top 16-9. The two teams continued to battle before a service error by the Tigers gave Northeastern a 25-17 set win and tied the match at 2-2.
- Northeastern opened up an 8-3 lead in the fifth set on a block from Burcescu. Towsonn used a 4-1 run to pull to within one, 8-7. Lewis had a pair of kills during that stretch. The Huskies responded with a 3-0 run and pushed their lead to 11-7. A kill from Amy Underdown gave Northeastern a 15-10 set win and a 3-2 win in the match.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Northeastern out blocked the Tigers 11-8.5. The Tigers held an 8-2 advantage in service aces and recorded 61 kills to the Huskies' 53.
- Lewis and Wonders became the first Tiger since Ally Perko in 2006 to record seven consecutive double-doubles. Lewis finished with 12 kills, 14 digs and two service aces. Wonders contributed 34 assists and 13 digs.
- Kuilan recorded a match-high 13 kills while Biver finished with 10 kills, eight digs and four blocks.
- Redshirt sophomore Anna Holehouse finished with 23 digs for the Tigers.
- Burcescu led Northeastern with 11 kills while Kristen Walding had 43 assists, 10 digs and eight kills.
The Tigers are back in action when they return home to host Delaware State on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.
