WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Three players record double-digit kills which lead the Towson University volleyball team to a 3-0 win at William & Mary on Friday evening in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. Sophomore
Carola Biver led the Tigers with 13 kills as Towson won its fourth straight match and moved into a tie for first place in the CAA standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was a back-and-forth battle as the two teams fought through 17 ties and 10 lead changes. Towson (23-7, 10-5 CAA) trailed 22-21 following a block from the Tribe's Paige Humphrey. Senior Lindsay Flaherty got a kill on the next play that started a 4-1 run by the visitors to close out the set. Flaherty and sophomore Jocelyn Kuilan had a block and senior Jessica Lewis recorded a service ace during that run. A kill from Biver finished off a 25-23 set win for the Tigers.
- With the second set tied at 11-11, Towson used a 7-3 run to take an 18-14 advantage. Kuilan had a kill and a service ace during that stretch while freshman Sydney Bates added a second service ace for the Gold and Black attack. The Tigers pushed their lead to 23-18 on a kill from Lewis. A kill from Biver sealed a 25-21 set win and gave Towson a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Tigers quickly opened up a 6-1 lead in the third set behind two kills from Kuilan. A kill from Lewis extended the Towson advantage to 11-5. Redshirt senior Candace Steadman gave the Tigers a 19-9 lead with a kill. The two teams continued to battle before a kill from Flaherty resulted in a 25-13 set win for the Tigers and a victory in the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Heading into the final two days of the regular season, the Tigers find themselves in a first place tie with James Madison, Northeastern and the College of Charleston.
- Lewis posted her second straight double-double and 15th of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs.
- Biver led the Tigers with 13 kills, nine digs and three service aces.
- Towson recorded seven service aces to William & Mary's (8-20, 2-13 CAA) two in the match. Four Tigers posted at least one service ace and that group was led by Biver's three.
- Kuilan added 10 kills, four digs and two service aces for the Tigers.
- Towson hit .264 in the match while holding William & Mary to a .152 percentage. It was the 23rd time this season the Tigers have held an opponent to a hitting percentage under .200.
- Freshman Marrisa Wonders had a match-high 28 assists while redshirt sophomore Anna Holehouse had 17 digs.
- Autumn Brenner led William & Mary with 19 assists and 10 digs.
The Tigers will play their final match of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 12 as they travel to James Madison for a 7 p.m. match.
