Tigers Return Home to Host Cornell Saturday

It's Time to Throw It Back: The Towson University women's basketball team returns home to host Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 12 p.m. That game will be a "Throwback" contest as the match will take place in the Towson Center. The Tigers called the Towson Center home until the end of the 2012-13 season. Links to the live stats and audio feed of Saturday's game can be found on the schedule page of TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (@Towson_WBB) for updates.

Scouting the Tigers: Towson is coming off a 69-40 win at Wagner on Thursday night. Senior guard Raven Bankston led the Tigers with 16 points and seven steals while sophomore guard Sianni Martin added 15 points and five rebounds against the Seahawks. Bankston paces the Tigers on the season while averaging 23.5 points per game and adding 11 steals and eight rebounds. Martin is posting 17.5 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds per game. Redshirt junior forward Jordyn Smith is tied with Martin for the team lead in rebounds (4.5).

Looking at Cornell: The Big Red come to Towson having won three straight to start the season. Cornell beat Colgate, 70-57 on Wednesday night as Megan LeDuc had 19 points and six assists. Nia Marshall added 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds in the win. Marshall leads the team on the season while averaging 13 points and six rebounds per game. Kerri Moran is contributing 12 points and five assists per game.

Series History: Saturday will be just the second meeting all-time between the Tigers and Big Red. Last year when the two squads met in Ithaca, New York, the Big Red claimed an 88-60 victory. Cornell shot 50.8% from the field and 93.8% from the free throw line. Kerri Moran had 18 points and 10 assists for Cornell while Sianni Martin led Towson with 18 points.

Off to a Good Start: Towson improved to 2-0 on the year with the win over Wagner. It is the first time since the 2012-13 season that the Tigers have started the year 2-0. It's the 13th time in program history that the Tigers have started the season 2-0.

I'll Take That: Senior guard Raven Bankston had seven steals on Thursday night at Wagner. The seven steals tied her career-high set last year against William & Mary. Bankston now has 19 matches in her career with three or more steals.

Balanced Attack: The first two games of the season have showcased the Tigers ability to have a balanced attack. In both games, 12 Tigers have scored at least one point. Towson got 25 points from its bench in the opener and followed it up with 32 points from the bench against Wagner.

Up Next: Towson travels to UMBC on Tuesday, Nov. 22 for a 7 p.m. game.
