TOWSON, Md. – A strong second half lifted Georgetown University to a 75-59 win over the Towson University women's basketball team on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers (5-1) and Hoyas (5-2) played before a crowd of 1,357 on STEM day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas opened the game on an 18-8 run as Dorothy Adomako's lay-up at 2:59 gave the visitors the 10-point advantage.
- Towson scored five of the final seven points in the stanza and Georgetown took a 20-13 lead after 10 minutes of play. Senior guard Raven Bankston had four of the Tigers' five during that stretch.
- The Tigers scored seven of the first nine points in the second quarter and cut the Georgetown lead to two, 22-20 with 6:02 showing on the clock.
- Georgetown pushed its lead back to seven, 29-22 with 3:07 left in the quarter on a pair of foul shots by Adomako.
- However, those were the final points of the quarter for the visitors. Towson scored the final 12 points of the stanza and took a 34-29 lead at the half. Sophomore guard Sianni Martin had half of the Tiger points during that run.
- Towson shot 44.8 percent from the field in the first half while Georgetown shot 40 percent. Mykia Jones led Georgetown with 12 points at the break while Bankston had 11 for the Tigers.
- After the team's traded baskets to open the third quarter, the Hoyas went on a 15-2 run and outscored the Tigers 25-11 in that 10-minute span. That turned a five-point lead for the home team into a nine-point lead for the visitors.
- The Hoyas shot 58.8 percent from the field in that quarter while holding the Tigers to a 38.5 field goal percentage. Towson had nine turnovers in the third quarter.
- The two teams battled throughout the fourth quarter, however the Tigers were unable to cut their deficit to single-digits. Georgetown claimed the 75-59 victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The STEM crowd was made up of local elementary and middle school children.
- For the sixth straight game, the Tigers scored at least 20 points off of opponent turnovers. Towson had 21 points off 19 Georgetown turnovers. Georgetown also took advantage of the turnovers, scoring 27 points off 21 Towson turnovers.
- Bankston led the Tigers with 18 points and three assists while senior forward Brianna Bush scored in double figures for the second straight game with 10 points.
- Bush and junior forward Mary Cuevas tied for the team lead with six rebounds each.
- Georgetown won the rebounding battle 40-31.
- Both teams shot better than 40 percent from the field in the game (Georgetown-46.8%, Towson-42.1%).
- The Hoyas were a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line.
- Adomako led Georgetown with 17 points and eight rebounds while Woodard had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Tigers close out their three-game home stand on Saturday, Dec. 3 when they host Coppin State at 5:30 p.m.
