Morman's Career Game Not Enough For Towson In Nevada Setback

LAS VEGASDeshaun Morman tied a career high with 18 points during Towson University's 81-72 setback to the University of Nevada in a men's basketball game at the South Point Holiday Classic Wednesday afternoon.
 
The loss ended Towson's three-game winning streak. Morman also added five rebounds for the third time this season and three steals. Morman is tied for second in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in steals per game.
 
Towson also received 16 points from junior guard Mike Morsell, who reached double digits in scoring for the 11th time this season and 44th time in his career.

How It Happened
  • Nevada, which entered the game with a RPI of 29, placed five players in double figures led by Cameron Oliver's 17 points and 13 rebounds.
  • After Towson closed a 12-point second half deficit to within, 53-50, Nevada made four 3-pointers during a 14-3 run that expanded its lead to 67-53 with 8:08 remaining.
  • Marcus Marshall, who also scored 17 points, made three 3-pointers during that run for the Wolfpack.
  • Marshall scored all his points in the second half for Nevada, which made 10-of-20 from 3-point distance.
  • Trailing 51-39 with 16:43 remaining, Towson used an 11-2 run to close to within three points following a Morman layup.
  • Towson forced Nevada into 17 turnovers and recorded 10 steals, the third time it recorded double-digit thefts in the same game.
  • Morsell scored a layup with 7:27 remaining in the first half that gave Towson its last lead, 21-20.
  • Zane Martin scored tough layups on consecutive possessions that gave the Tigers a 19-17 lead with 8:56 remaining in the first half.
  • After missing its first seven shots to begin the game, Morsell made a 3-pointer from the corner with 14:20 left for the Tigers first field goal.
