Tigers Visit Colgate on Thursday

On the Road Again: The Towson University women's basketball team hits the road for it's final non-conference away match-up on Thursday, Dec. 8. The Tigers visit Colgate where opening tip is set for 7 p.m. Links to live stats and the video feed can be found on the schedule page of TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (@Towson_WBB) for updates.

Series History: The Tigers get a chance to face a brand new opponent when they face Colgate. The Raiders are the third new opponent for the Tigers this season. Towson recorded wins over UMass Lowell and Wagner in its first ever meeting with those two schools. Colgate is the only member of the Patriot League that the Tigers have not faced before. That includes in-state rivals Loyola and Navy. The Tigers are a combined 40-22 all-time against the two schools.

We'll Take The Charity: Towson continues to take advantage of its opportunities at the foul line. The Tigers were 14-for-18 (77.8%) from the charity stripe against Maryland. It marked the second straight game and fifth time this season that Towson shot 70 percent or better from the foul line. Five of the six Tigers who went to the foul line at Maryland made at least two shots. That group was led by sophomore guard Sianni Martin, who was a perfect 4-for-4. The Tigers enter play on Wednesday fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) for free throw percentage (68.9%) this season. A large part of the Tigers' success at the charity stripe is Martin and senior guard Raven Bankston. Bankston has connected on 16 straight from the foul line, dating back to the UMBC game on Nov. 22. Her free throw percentage of 93.5 (29-of-31) ranks third in the CAA. Martin has made 25-of-29 (86.2) and ranks fifth in the CAA for free throw percentage.

Big Time Bri: Towson senior forward Brianna Bush stepped up for the Tigers in Tuesday's contest at Maryland. Bush went 4-for-4 from the field and 3-for-4 from the foul line, tying her career-high with 11 points.
It was the third time in the last four games the senior reached double digits on the scoresheet. She also led the team and tied her season-high with six rebounds against the Terps.

Sure Shooting Tigers: After shooting 50 percent from the field in the second and third quarters on Tuesday night, the Tigers finished the game shooting 42.9 percent from the field. Four Tigers recorded multiple baskets in that game and that group was led by sophomore guard Sianni Martin, with seven field goals. Towson enters play on Wednesday leading the CAA in field goal percentage (43.7). The Tigers have shot at least 40 percent from the field in seven of eight games  this season. Redshirt junior forward Jordyn Smith went 1-for-2 from the field on Tuesday night and now leads the CAA with a 64.9 (24-for-37) field goal percentage.

Balanced Attack: The Tigers got a balanced attack on Tuesday night at Maryland as four of the five starters scored in double figures. Sophomore guard Sianni Martin led the team and tied for game-high honors with 19 points. Senior guard Raven Bankston had 14 points while senior forward Brianna Bush and redshirt junior guard Raine Bankston each had 11 points. It was the third time this season, the Tigers have had a game where four players scored in double figures. Towson is 2-1 in those contests (wins over UMBC and George Mason).

Up Next: The Tigers return home to host Rider on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m.
