BALTIMORE, Md. – The Towson women's tennis team earned a thrilling 4-3 victory over George Washington on Friday evening at the Bare Hills Racquet and Fitness Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED (DOUBLES)

• Towson won the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches.
• Nicole Shakhnazarova and Barbora Vasilkova earned a 6-3 win over Hansen/Nederlander in the top doubles spot.
• In the third doubles position, A.J. Gomer and Renate van Oorschodt combined for a 6-1 victory over Radosavljevic and Kogan.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED (SINGLES)

• The Tigers earned three singles victories for the match win against George Washington.
• Vasilkova earned a third set victory, falling in the first set (6-1) before responding strong with a 6-0 win in the second set. She closed out the matchup with a 6-3 win in the third set for the second singles spot.
• van Oorschodt posted the Tigers' second singles win with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory in the fifth spot.
• George Washington earned singles victories in the number one, three and four spots to tie the match at 4-4 heading into the final singles matchup.
• Lucy Gloninger won the first set 6-2 before falling by a close 6-4 score in the second set. She rebounded for a 6-2 win in the third set to decide the win over George Washington for the Tigers.

"This was a nice win four our program," said head coach Doug Neagle. "We have been close to George Washington in the past and come up short. We got over that hump tonight.
 
"Lucy Gloninger had a huge win in singles to decide the victory," Neagle continued. "Barbora Vasilkova continued on her roll while Renate van Oorschodt was huge as well in singles and doubles."
