  • Five straight points from Johnson to start the second quarter pushed the Tiger advantage to 21-16 and forced the Cougars to call timeout with 7:35 left in the period.

QUOTABLE
  • "Great team effort today," said Towson head coach Niki Reid Geckeler. "We did a great job on the defensive end and that generated a lot of our offense. Brianna Taylor went into our starting line-up and she brings a lot of energy and works hard and I thought people watched her play and her energy and that helped us. We wanted to close up gaps, keep our opponent off the free throw line and limiting second chance points and I thought we did that."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Towson blocked a season-high seven shots as Tarr had a career-high three blocks.
  • Johnson celebrated her birthday with 18 points, three rebounds and an assist.
  • Johnson was joined in double figures by Martin (12 pts.), Tarr (10 pts.) and junior guard Raven Bankston (10 pts.).
  • Towson earned its third CAA win of the season and first since the Jan. 15 victory at home over Elon.
  • Towson shot 43.8% from the field and improved to 6-4 on the year when it shoots 40% of better from the field.
  • The Tigers recorded 13 steals in the game, it was the 10th time this season they recorded double digit steals in a game. Martin and redshirt sophomore guard Raine Bankston each had four steals.
  • Kelsey Booth led the Cougars with 11 points.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Feb. 19 when they travel to Drexel for a 7 p.m. game.
