Richard Miller each collected three hits, but it was not enough as Towson dropped a 7-5 decision to Presbyterian Friday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex.
How it Happened- PC (2-2) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- The Tigers (0-4) tied the game in the fourth as Miller singled to center, Jay Sanford walked and Dolin Dyer was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With two outs, Clark Clatchey delivered an RBI single to left center.
- The Towson offense put together fourth-straight hits in the fifth to push across three runs. Gimblet started the rally with a double to right center. A.J. Gallo drove in Gimblet with a single up the middle. After Gallo stole second and Brady Policelli singled through the left side, Miller plated Gallo with a single to right field.
- Policelli would score the third run of the inning on a wild pitch.
- The Blue Hose tied the game in the home-half of the inning as three Tigers errors led to three runs. A throwing error allowed the first run to score, while a fielding error allowed the second to cross the plate. The final run scored on a Cletis Avery RBI groundout.
- PC took the lead in the sixth as A Priaulx delivered a two-run homer to left field. Weyenburg later added an RBI single through the left side.
- Towson got one run back in the eighth on a Colin Dyer solo home run to left field.
- The Tigers threated in the ninth inning as Gimblet was hit by a pitch and Miller singled, but a groundout to shortstop ended the game.
Inside the Numbers- The Tiger offense collected 10 hits in the game. It marks the third-straight game the Tigers have collected at least 10 hits.
- The Towson defense committed four errors in the game, leading to two unearned runs. The Tigers had only committed one error in the previous three games.
- The fourth and fifth innings have been the scoring frames for the Tigers this season. They has scored 14 of their 21 runs in those two innings.
- Gimblet finished the day 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored.
- Miller made his collegiate debut and went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Dyer's eighth-inning home run was the first of the season for the Tigers. It was the second home run in Dyer's career.
- Matt Golczewski had another good start, allowing four runs, two earned, over five innings.
- Dean Stramara (0-1) took the loss after allowing three runs in one inning.
- David Sauer (1-0) picked up the victory after not allowing a hit over 1.2 innings.
- Hayden Deal pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save.
