Towson Falls To Winthrop, 4-2

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop came alive late to hand Towson a 4-2 setback in the second game of the Winthrop/Adidas Softball Tournament Friday evening at Terry Field.
 
How It Happened
  • The host Eagles scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase Towson's advantage.
  • Towson used back to back doubles from Brook Miko and Courtney Johnson to take a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
  • Holiday Cahill's sacrifice fly in the third inning scored Olivia Yarbrough, which doubled Towson's lead, 2-0.
  • The Tigers didn't have a hit following Shelby Stracher's third inning single.
  • Paige Haley, Leah Young, Megan Winningham all had two hits each for the Eagles.
  • Winthrop had four of its seven hits in the sixth inning.

  • Towson dropped to 0-3 against schools from the Big South Conference.
  • Winthrop extended its home winning streak to 12.
  • Stracher and Daria Edwards have reached base in every game for Towson this season.
