UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – The No. 10 Towson women's basketball team fell to No. 2 Drexel 71-54 on Thursday evening in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Tigers opened up the game by taking a 5-0 lead with 8:31 left in the first quarter. Freshman guard Sianni Martin had a layup while senior guard Dominique Johnson sank a three during that span.
- Drexel responded with a 7-0 run over to take a 7-5 lead with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter. Sarah Curran had five points for the Dragons during that run.
- A three-pointer by Martin gave the Tigers an 11-9 lead going into the second quarter.
- The two teams traded baskets before the Tigers took a six-point lead with 5:18 to play in the half thanks to a layup by sophomore center Daijha Thomas.
- Drexel tied up the game at 31-31 with 1:34 to play on a jumper by Jackie Schluth.
- The Dragons took a two-point lead into the half as a steal by Carrie Alexander lead to a layup by Curran.
- Drexel jumped out to a seven-point lead with 3:48 remaining in the third quarter. Rachel Pearson had five points for the Dragons over that span to give Drexel a 45-38 edge.
- The Tigers chipped away at Drexel's lead to bring it within three points with 1:15 to play in the third. Martin sank a jumper and a three-pointer to close the gap for Towson.
- Drexel regained its seven-point lead at the end of the third quarter as Curran posted five points in the final 50 seconds to make it 53-46.
- Towson pulled within three as freshman forward Brittany Tarr sank back-to-back baskets with 8:55 left in the game. That would be the closest that the Tigers would get for the remainder of the game.
- Drexel responded with a 17-4 run in the final 8:36 to earn the 71-54 win. Meghan Creighton had 10 points for the Dragons during that span.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE- The Tigers had four players score in double figures for the second-straight game.
- Johnson recorded a team-best 17 points and five assists on the day.
- Martin had a balanced day as she posted 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds, three assists and a steal.
- Towson shot 23-50 (46.0%) from the field while Drexel shot 27-48 (56.3%).
- The Tigers had just five trips to the foul line and was only able to connect on one of those opportunities. Drexel shot 80.0% from the foul line, making eight of their 10 free throws.
- Drexel converted 13 points off of 15 turnovers by the Tigers.
