Hickman's Gem Helps Towson Take A Bite Out Of Manhattan

MORAGA, Calif. – Ambar Hickman tossed a four-hit shutout to lead the Towson softball team to a 1-0 victory over Manhattan in the Saint Mary's Classic at Cottrell Field Saturday morning. Hickman's strong performance helped Towson raise its overall record to 15-4, its best start to a season since 1986.
 
How It Happened
  • Hickman struck out a season best seven batters.
  • Courtney Johnson drove in the Tigers only run with a two-out single that scored Holiday Cahill, who had a one-out double in the second inning.
  • Three of Towson's four hits occurred in the first two innings.
  • Olivia Yarbrough led off the game with a bunt single.
  • Hickman overcame a first inning in which Manhattan had two runners on base with one out.
  • With two runners on base in the third inning and one out, Hickman struck out two straight hitters to quell the Jasper threat.
  • After allowing a two-out single in the fifth inning, Hickman retired the final seven hitters to secure Towson's third consecutive triumph.
  • Three of Hickman's final four frames were perfect.
