Tennis Hits The Road For Spring Break Trip

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson women's tennis program hits the road for a series of matches in the Carolinas over spring break. The Tigers will face Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival College of Charleston on March 14. Towson will remain in Charleston to face Savannah State (March 16) and University of Massachusetts (March 17) in neutral site matchups. The Tigers wrap up their four-game road trip at CAA foe UNCW on March 19.
 
Towson is coming off a close 4-3 win over Duquesne on March 4 to improve to 6-3 overall on the season. The Tigers opened the match by winning doubles play which proved to be the match's deciding point. Towson is 7-0 when winning the match's opening doubles point.
 
The pairing of A.J. Gomer and Renate van Oorschdot have won four-straight doubles matches, including a perfect 4-0 record in doubles play. The duo is 7-2 overall on the season, including fall tournament play.
 
Barbora Vasilkova earned her first loss in singles play against Duquesne, falling 6-4, 6-2. She is 8-1 in dual match singles play this season and 13-5 overall, including fall tournament play. Vasilkova had a 12-dual match win streak snapped that dated back to last season.
 
College of Charleston improved to 10-4 on the season after splitting a doubleheader with Michigan State and Illinois State last time out. The Cougars are led by Mara Argyriou and Helena Nyikos in singles play. Argyriou is 10-3 in dual match singles play and enters the matchup with the Tigers riding a four-match win streak. Nyikos has won seven-straight to improve to 11-1 in dual match singles play.
 
Savannah State is coming off a 5-2 loss to North Carolina State University to fall to 0-13 overall this season. Elizabeth Geronimo leads Savannah State's singles play with four wins. The Tigers will face off with College of Charleston on March 15 before facing Towson on March 16.
 
University of Massachusetts earned a 5-2 win over Albany on March 5 to improve to 6-6 on the season. The Minutewomen won the doubles point and four of the six singles matches in the win against the Great Danes. Anna Woosley is leading the Minutewomen in singles play with a 12-5 overall record this season. University of Massachusetts battles College of Charleston on March 15 before facing the Tigers on March 17.
 
UNC Wilmington defeated Prairie View A&M 6-1 last time out. The Seahawks improved to 4-5 season with the win. Alix Theodossiou and Christine Kharkevitch lead the Seahawks in singles play with five wins each.
 
Towson stays on the road to face Fordham University on March 25 at 10 a.m. followed by CAA rival Hofstra on March 26 at 11 a.m.
