TOWSON, Md. – A costly error in the top of the second inning led to seven unearned runs and that proved to be the difference as Towson fell, 9-4, to Rhode Island Sunday afternoon at Schuerholz Park. 
How it Happened- The Rams got their offense going with nine runs in the second inning.  A pair of hits got the rally started before the runners came around to score on a wild pitch and a groundout.
 - After the inning was extended on a two-out error, Chris Hess delivered the big blow with a grand slam to left center.  Two batters later, Mike Corin hit a two-run homer to left field.
 - The Tigers came back with three runs in the third inning after Tristan Howerton started the inning with a solo home run to left field, the first of his career.
 - After Richie Palacios reached on an error and stole second, Brady Policelli ripped an 0-2 pitch into the left-field corner for an RBI double. 
 - Policelli stole second and went to third on a wild pitch before a second wild pitch allowed Policelli to score.
 - Howerton started a one-out rally in the ninth with a sharp single to left.  After going to second on a wild pitch, Palacios drove in Howerton with an opposite-field double to left field.
 - Kevin Ross (0-3) took the loss after allowing the nine runs, seven unearned, in the second inning.  His day ended after five innings, allowing eight hits and striking out three.
 - Freshman Skyler Morris kept the Tigers in the game as he allowed just three hits and struck out three over four shutout innings.
 - Steve Moyers (1-4) picked up the victory after surrendering three runs, two earned, on four hits and seven strikeouts over five innings.
 - Policelli led the offense by going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. 
 - Howerton finished the day 2-for-4 with home run, RBI and two runs scored.
 - A.J. Gallo added two hits for the Tigers.
