Dyer Homers in Loss to Wake Forest

Winston Salem, N.C. – Junior Colin Dyer hit his second home run of the season, but it was not enough as Towson fell 8-4 to Wake Forest Friday night.

How it Happened
  • Towson (0-7) wasted little time in getting on the board as Richie Palacios started the game with a double to right center.  After Colin Dyer sacrificed Palacios to third, a wild pitch allowed Palacios to race home.
  • The Demon Deacons (8-2) tied the game in the second on a Gavin Sheets sacrifice fly to right field.
  • Wake Forest took advantage of a fielding error to push across six runs in the fourth inning, the final four being unearned.  Jody Rodriguez drove in two of the runs with a double before Keegan Maronpot closed out the scoring with an RBI single.
  • The Tigers got a run back in the sixth as Brady Policelli singled and went to second on a wild pitch.  Chris Henze drove in Policelli with a single to right field.
  • Dyer started the eighth inning with his second leadoff home run of the season.  He is the only Tiger to hit a home run so far this season.
  • After Policelli was hit by a pitch and Henze singled, Colin Gimblet drove in the second run of the inning with a double down the right-field line.
  • Matt Golczewski (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs, three earned, on four hits over 3.2 innings.
  • David Marriggi came out of the bullpen and allowed just one unearned run over 4.1 innings.
  • Parker Dunshee (2-1) picked up the victory for the Demon Deacons after giving up two runs on seven hits and 12 strikeouts over seven innings.
  • Will Craig (2) retired all four hitters he faced to earn the save.
