Henze Delivers Walk-off Single to Defeat Richmond

Winston Salem, N.C. – Junior Chris Henze delivered a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give Towson a 3-2 victory over Richmond Saturday evening at Couch Ballpark.

How it Happened
  • Richmond (9-2) scored single runs in the third and sixth innings to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Austin Clark kept the Tigers in the game as he gave up just one unearned run on two hits and five strikeouts over five innings.
  • The Tigers (1-7) got on the board in the seventh inning as Richie Palacios started a two-out rally with a single down the right-field line.
  • A wild pitch moved Palacios to second before Colin Dyer drove in the runner with a double down the left-field line.
  • Towson had a chance to tie the game in the eighth inning as they put two on with one out, but were unable to score.
  • John Drexel started the ninth by drawing a pinch-hit walk.  A wild pitch and a walk to Palacios put two on with no outs.
  • A fly ball to center and a stolen base put runners on second and third with one out.  Brady Policelli followed with a walk to load the bases.
  • A.J. Gallo tied the game with a sacrifice fly to center field.
  • On the next pitch, Henze singled to right center to give the Tigers their first win of the season.
  • Lee Lawler (1-1) picked up the victory after allowing three hits over 1.2 shutout innings.
  • Palacios and Dyer each collected two hits, while Palacios scored a pair of runs.
