WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – Junior
Kyle Stricker was dominant out of the bullpen as he allowed just one hit over 6.2 shutout innings as Towson won its second-straight game, 6-5, over Harvard Sunday morning at Couch Ballpark.
How it Happened- The Tigers (2-7) got on the board in the second inning as a walk, hit by pitch and a Richie Palacios single loaded the bases with one out.
- Two batters later, Brady Policelli delivered a two-run single through the left side.
- The Crimson (2-2) responded in the home-half of the inning as a throwing error by the Tigers opened the door for a four-run inning. After the inning should have been over, Patrick McColl delivered a two-run single, and John Fallon followed with a two-run double.
- A pair of freshman started another Tiger rally in the third as a Richard Miller single and a Cuinn Mullins one-out double runners on second and third with one out.
- Tristan Howerton drove in one run with a groundout to second, before Palacios beat out a bunt single to tie the game 4-4.
- Harvard regained the lead in the home-half of the inning on an RBI double from Drew Reid.
- Stricker would enter the game at that point and shut down any more offense for the Crimson.
- Stricker retired the first 14 hitters he faced before allowing a leadoff single in the eighth. He bounced back and retired the next six hitters to earn his first career victory as a Tiger.
- When his day was done, Stricker surrendered just the one hit and struck out four over 6.2 innings. He was very efficient in needing only 69 pitches.
- Towson would get the offense it needed to take the lead in the fifth as Miller started the inning by drawing a walk. Colin Gimblet followed with a single to right. After the ball was misplayed, both runners advanced and put runners on second and third with no outs.
- Mullins tied the game with an RBI single to right center.
- Palacios followed with an RBI groundout to first that drove in what turned out to be the game-winning run.
