Palacios Ties Single-Season Stolen Base Record

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Towson freshman Richie Palacios stole two more bases Saturday afternoon in the Tigers 6-2 setback at UNCW.

How It Happened
  • Palacios' two stolen bases raise his season total to 29.  He is now tied with Shane Justis (2005) for the single-season record.
  • UNCW (26-9, 7-2 CAA) got on the board in the third inning as Kennard McDowell delivered an RBI double to right center, then scored on a Brian Mims single to right.
  • Trailing 3-0 in the sixth, Palacios helped to get the Tigers (14-26, 5-6 CAA) on the board as he drew a leadoff walk and stole second.  Chris Henze drove in Palacios with a single up the middle.
  • The Seahawks answered right back with a two-run double to left in the home-half of the inning.
  • Palacios started another rally in the eighth with a one-out single to center.  He then ran his way into the record books with his 29th stolen base. He would later score on Henze's second RBI single of the day.
  • Henze led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.
  • Colin Gimblet added two hits.
  • Kevin Ross (2-5) allowed four runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings in the loss.
  • Ale Royalty (6-2) surrendered one run on five hits and five strikeouts over 5.1 innings to earn the victory.
