MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Despite a two-run homer from sophomore
Brook Miko, the Towson softball team fell 3-2 to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival College of Charleston on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPEPEND - The Cougars took an early lead with a pair of runs in the second inning. After reaching on a single, Kelly Sinclair used a sacrifice bunt and a double to move to third base. Taylor Dupree singled up the middle before moving to second on the throw to score Sinclair. Dupree would score from second on a single by Rebecca Mueller.
- Blakely Thrower replaced Megan Dejter on the mound with two runners on and two outs. The Cougars loaded the bases as Valerie Cassell was walked but Thrower got a strikeout to end the inning.
- Towson got on the scoreboard as Brook Miko smashed a two-run shot to bring home Shelby Stracher. The Tigers looked to threaten with back-to-back walks to Holiday Cahill and Daria Edwards.
- Samantha Martin came on in relief action for Cassell and was able to get the inning's final out, striking out Nicole Stockinger.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ambar Hickman took over on the mound for Thrower. Madison Brown led off with a single down the right field line and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and passed ball. A walk to Sinclair gave the Cougars two runners on before Brown was able to score on a single by Chandler Frisbie.
- Towson looked to tie up the game in the top of the seventh as a pinch hit single by Erin Drennan gave the Tigers a runner on but they were unable to capitalize.
- Martin gave up two runs on four hits over 4.2 innings of action, tallying four strikeouts to get the save. Cassell walked just two while also recording two strikeouts over the first 2.1 innings for the win.
- Dejter allowed two runs on five hits over the first 1.2 innings. Thrower gave up two hits in 2.1 innings. Hickman gave up one run on two hits for the loss.
ON DECKTowson concludes its regular season with an eight-game homestand beginning with a non-conference doubleheader against Villanova on Tuesday, April 26. The first game starts at 2:30 p.m.
