Tigers Drop First Game of Doubleheader

TOWSON, Md. – The College of Charleston hit a pair of home runs in the top of the sixth inning in a 9-4 victory over Towson in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.
 
How It Happened
  • The Cougars (23-18-1, 7-7 CAA) got on the board in the third inning after an RBI double from Tommy Richter and a run-scoring single from Bradley Dixon.
  • CofC added to its lead in the sixth they pushed across four unearned runs.  Danny Wondrack delivered a three-run home to left field and Clay Hunt followed with a solo home run to left.
  • The Tigers (16-28, 6-8 CAA) got on the board with a two-out rally in the eighth.  After walks to Jay Sanford and Cuinn Mullins, Spencer Sutton delivered a pinch-hit RBI single to right field.Cou
  • The Cougars collected three hits and pushed across three runs to extend the lead in the top of the ninth.
  • Towson got its best offense in the bottom of the ninth as Brady Policelli and Richie Palacios hit back-to-back home runs to right field.  It was the team-leading seventh home run Policelli, while Palacios hit his fifth.
  • Kevin Ross (2-6) took the loss after allowing six runs, two earned, on 10 hits over six innings.
  • Bailey Ober (5-2) allowed just one run on three hits and 10 strikeouts over eight innings to pick up the victory.
