FARMVILLE, Va. – The Towson University field hockey program fell 2-0 at Longwood to open the 2016 season on Friday afternoon.

The Lancers (1-0) used two first-half goals, the first midway through and the second on a penalty corner opportunity with time expired to defeat Towson (0-1).

How it Happened

  • Freshman Paige Zaleppa had the Tigers' only chance of the game at 27 minutes in the first half but her shot went wide.
  • The Lancers capitalized on a penalty corner opportunity as time expired in the first half. Woodall made the initial save on a shot by Lil-Sophie Achterwinter but the ball was collected by Jordan Chapman who put it past Woodall for Longwood's second goal.
