MONTGOMERY, Al. – The Towson University volleyball started its 2016 off in style by cruising to pair of 3-0 victories over Jackson State and Texas Southern in the ISTAP Tournament at Alabama State Friday afternoon.Â
The Tigers (2-0 overall) registered 33 kills in the opening win against Jackson State. Towson captured the match 25-11, 25-8, 25-11 in 72 minutes. Unfortunately, as of 1:01 a.m. Eastern Time, statistics for the Texas Southern match hadn't been received by the Towson Media Relations Office.

How It Happened (Jackson State)
- Returning to her home state, senior Jessica Lewis, a Huntsville native, led Towson with 10 kills.
- The Tigers enjoyed a .375 hitting percentage.
- Jocelyn Kuilan (six) and Annie Ertz (five) combined for 11 kills.
- Freshman setter Marrisa Wonders had a sparkling debut with 16 assists.
- Senior Candace Stedman made the most of her of five attacks as she finished with four kills and a .800 hitting percentage.
- Anna Holehouse's 16 digs paced the Towson defense as it limited Jackson State to a -.193 hitting percentage.
- Annie Ertz collected six of Towson's eight service aces.
- Jackson State's top performer was Tyler Moorer, who had 14 digs.
- Jackson State had 12 kills.
