TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team matched its season-high with 28 points in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to complete the comeback as the University of Delaware claimed a 73-67 win in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play on Sunday. Senior guard
Raven Bankston led all scorers with 31 points, 20 of which were scored in the second half as the Tigers attempted the comeback.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware opened the game on a 7-2 run as Abby Gonzales had five early points for the Blue Hens.
- The Tigers responded with an 11-5 run of its own and took a 13-12 edge with 2:01 to go in the stanza. Bankston scored seven of Towson's points during that stretch.
- The two squads traded baskets over the final two minutes as Nicole Enabosi's lay-up with 18 seconds left gave the visitors a 16-15 advantage after 10 minutes of play.
- The Tigers and Blue Hens battled on both ends of the floor to start the second quarter as Bankston's lay-up with 5:59 left on the clock gave Towson a 21-20 edge.
- An Erika Brown three-pointer with 4:32 to go in the quarter jump started a 15-2 run by the Blue Hens to close out the second period.
- Sade Chatman had four points for Delaware (12-8, 6-3 CAA) during that scoring stretch that gave the Blue Hens a 35-23 lead at the break.
- Delaware opened the third quarter on a 9-4 run and took a 44-27 lead with six minutes to go in the stanza. Kiersten West scored five of the Blue Hens' points during that stretch.
- Towson used a 6-0 run of its own to cut the deficit to 11, 44-33 with 3:51 showing on the clock.
- The Blue Hens scored eight of the next 10 points and pushed their lead back to 17, 52-35 with 1:45 to go in the period. Enabosi and West each had three points during that stretch.
- The two teams traded baskets down the stretch and Delaware led 54-39 after three periods of play.
- Towson (11-9, 4-5 CAA) opened the fourth quarter on a 12-5 run and pulled to within nine, 60-51 with 6:10 to play. Bankston tallied nine of the Tigers' 12 during that stretch. Â
- Brown scored four of the next seven points and gave Delaware a 64-54 lead with 4:33 left on the clock.
- Towson used a 7-1 run to pull to within three, 65-62 with 1:55 to play in the game. Redshirt sophomore center Maia Lee completed a traditional three-point play during that stretch.
- After Delaware pushed its lead back to five, Bankston converted a three-point play and pulled the Tigers to within two, 67-65 with1:12 left in the game.
- The Blue Hens were a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line in the final minute plus to hold off Towson and secure the 73-67 win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Both teams shot 84 percent or better from the foul line. However Delaware was 34-for-40 from the charity stripe while the Tigers were 16-for-19.
- Bankston has now scored 30 or more points three times this season and four times in her Towson career. She is the first Tiger since Trinette Tucker during the 1994-95 season to score 30 or more points in three games of the same season.
- Towson's 28 points in the fourth quarter matched its season-high for points in a quarter, set during the fourth quarter versus Rider. Â
- Junior forward Mary Cuevas had a game-high 11 rebounds in the game and added eight points.
- West led Delaware with 16 points while Enabosi and Makeda Nicholas each had 14 points and nine rebounds.
- Towson had a season-low nine turnovers in the game while forcing Delaware into 18 turnovers and scoring 17 points off those turnovers.
The Tigers hit the road next weekend visiting Elon on Friday, Feb. 3 and the College of Charleston on Sunday, Feb. 5.
