HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Led by three first-half goals, including two in the first 13 minutes, Hofstra posted a 4-0 victory over the Towson University field hockey team in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest at Hofstra Stadium on Sunday.

How it Happened
- Hofstra (6-7, 1-1 CAA) scored its first goal 10 minutes into the game before added its second just over two minutes later.
- The Pride struck for a third time in the opening half when they scored on their first penalty corner opportunity with under 14 minutes remaining.
- Towson (1-11, 0-2 CAA) had its best opportunity to get on the board in the first half with less than nine minutes left as the earned back-to-back penalty corners. The Tigers' leading scorer, junior Katie McNeel, had two shots at it, but after her first one was blocked, her second attempt went wide.
- Towson played much better in the second half, limiting Hofstra to just one goal on six shots after three goals on 12 shots in the first.
- The Tigers also had the first chance at a goal, drawing their third penalty corner just over eight minutes in, but a shot by senior Taylor Kvilhaug was wide.
- Midway through the half, Hofstra had a shot hit the post before Lowry made a defensive with 15 minutes to play.
- Hofstra scored its last goal off of its sixth penalty corner of the day with 11:08 remaining.
- Towson had a final chance to avoid the shutout with its fourth penalty corner of the game with just 15 seconds remaining, byt the Tigers could not generate an opportunity before the clock ran out.

- With five defensive saves this season, Towson would rank in the top 10 in Division I. They entered this weekend ranked 19th in the nation with four.
- Towson has five different players with a defensive save this season, the most since the team had six in 2013.
