How it Happened
- VCU (9-4) scored three goals on its first seven shots in the game's first 17 minutes before Towson held the Rams without a shot or penalty corner over the final 18 minutes.
- After Woodall stopped VCU's first three shots of the game, Spencer Tossone scored just 5:41 into the first half when she scored inside the left post on a pass from Jessica Mays off a penalty corner.
- The Rams struck again seven minutes later when Tossone scored again off a corner, this time assisted by Emily McNamara.
- Less than five minutes after McNamara's first point, she found the back of the cage off a rebound after her initial shot was saved by Woodall.
- Following a timeout by Towson (1-13), the Tigers would have the remaining offensive opportunities over the final 15 minutes.
- Three minutes after the timeout, the Tigers drew their first corner of the game, but could not register a shot.
- Towson drew its second corner just a few minutes later, but a shot by senior Taylor Kvilhaug went wide left before freshman Beira Ho followed with a shot that went wide right.
- The Tigers earned their third corner of the half with five minutes remaining, but could not get a shot off and the game went to the half with VCU holding a 3-0 lead.
- The Rams controlled the action for most of the second half, totaling eight shots and seven penalty corners to just one shot and two corners for Towson.
- Woodall finished with four saves in each half.
- The Tigers registered their lone shot of the second half off of their second penalty corner with under nine minutes remaining, leading to Chessa Kownurko's lone save for VCU.
