TOWSON, Md. – In leading the Towson University men's basketball team a 78-65 victory over visiting UMBC Saturday afternoon at SECU Arena,
Eddie Keith II made sure to remain perfect against Baltimore-area schools.
Â
Keith II picked the perfect time to collect his first career double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, helping Towson extend its winning streak to 10 games.
Â
With the win, the Tigers have the second longest active NCAA Division I men's basketball streak behind TCU, which has won 15 straight. Villanova has won nine in a row and can tie Towson for the second longest streak if it beats La Salle Sunday.
Â

Keith II, who was one of three players Towson players to score in double figures, was force in 28 entertaining minutes. He battled for loose balls like they were a winning Powerball ticket. Keith II sank timely 3-pointers, threaded nice passes and blocked a career best three shots.
Â
It seemed only fitting that while he was sitting on the floor late in the game that the final rebound came straight to him.
Â
Ironically, it was Keith II that actually provided the needed fuel to get the Tigers going although at the time, he didn't realize it.
Â
UMBC's Arkel Lamar sank a 3-pointer from the corner and was fouled by Keith II, who put his head down and walked away in disgust. That shot gave the Retrievers a temporary euphoric feeling along with a 54-51 lead with 12 minutes, 38 remaining.

Â

"I wanted to be aggressive and help my team. I wanted to get this win. I never lost to a Baltimore team in my four years here so I just wanted to keep that going. That's just the competitive nature in me."
