BALTIMORE, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team earned an impressive 7-0 sweep over Villanova on Sunday afternoon at the Coppermine Racquet & Fitness Club. Towson improved to 3-2 on the season after winning two of its three matches this weekend.
 
How it Happened

• Towson opened the match by winning the doubles point, winning the top two doubles matches. At the No. 1 flight, A.J. Gomer and Renate van Oorschodt defeated Kaylan Rotman and Alexandra Krogius by an impressive 6-0 score. At No. 2 doubles, Lucy Williams and Yevgeniya Shusterman defeated Paulina Bajet and Linley Busby 6-3. Villanova's Victoria Martinez and Carina Burdick earned a 6-4 win over Nicole Shakhnazarova and Barbora Vasilkova.
• Nicole Shakhnazarova earned a 6-1, 7-5 win over Kaylan Rotman at the top singles flight.
• A.J. Gomer earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Victoria Martinez at the No. 2 singles flight.
• Lucy Williams defeated Paulina Bajet 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
• Barbora Vasilkova bested Alexandra Krogius 6-1, 7-6 (5) at the fourth singles flight.
• At No. 5 singles, Yevgeniya Shusterman earned a hard fought win over Carina Burdick 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5).
• Sophie Lesage gave Towson its final singles win at the sixth spot, defeating Linley Busby 6-4, 6-4.

Towson will take a week off before returning to the courts for a pair of matches in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Tigers battle Buffalo in a neutral-site match on March 4 at 4 p.m., before taking on Duquesne on March 5 at 3 p.m.
