Offensive Onslaught Helps Towson Roll Past Hampton, 17-2

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Holiday Cahill hit her 31st career home run to tie the all-time school record during the Towson University softball team's 17-2 victory over Hampton in the Carolina Classic Friday night.
 
How It Happened
  • Cahill's home run in the fifth inning was one of nine extra base hits in the game for the Tigers.
  • Cahill tied Aimee Rosa's home run total. Rosa played for Towson from 2005-08.
  • Nicole Stockinger had three doubles.
  • Stockinger doubled twice during Towson's eight-run third inning.
  • Shelby Stracher had three hits, including a two-out, three-run home run in the first inning that gave Towson a 4-0 advantage.
  • Madison Wilson, Kendyl Scott, Brook Miko, Bailey Boyd and Scott had two hits each for Towson.
  • Boyd had a two-run single in the third inning that expanded Towson's lead to 6-1.
  • Wilson's bases clearing double in the third inning scored three runs and swelled the Tigers' lead to 9-1.
  • Boyd added a solo home run leading off the fourth inning that gave Towson a 13-1 advantage.
