CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Towson University softball team battled back from a late four-run deficit to force extra innings before dropping a tough 6-5 decision to North Carolina in nine innings Friday night at the Carolina Classic.
 
How It Happened

• Junior Daria Edwards and freshman Madison Wilson led the Tigers with three hits each.
• Senior Holiday Cahill had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.
• Hailey Cole delivered a sacrifice fly to score Kendra Lynch with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
• Trailing, 4-1, entering the seventh inning, Towson's offense went to work.
• Towson had four consecutive one-out hits from junior Kendyl Scott, Wilson, junior Olivia Baltazar and Edwards to slice its deficit to 4-2.
• Cahill grounded out to bring home Wilson with Towson's third run.
• Towson took the lead on a two-out fielding error. Edwards scored the tying run and Baltazar hustled home with the go-ahead run.
• It was Towson's first lead of the game.
• UNC immediately tied the game in bottom of the seventh inning when Berlynne Delamora led off with a solo home run.
• Towson got on the board in the sixth inning when Cahill doubled home Edwards.
