THE BASICS
No. 15/20 Towson 22, Stetson 5
Johnny Unitas® Stadium, Towson, Md.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Towson got the scoring started early as junior midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano scored the first goal of the game at 28:44 off a pass from Brookhart.
  • That goal kicked off a 12-goal run by the Tigers. It was capped by a goal from Sulmonte with 10:35 to go in the period.
  • During that run the Tigers scored three goals in a span of 22 seconds from 23:58 to 23:36. Sulmonte scored twice in that streak while junior midfielder Emily Gillingham also scored.
  • A Stetson free position goal briefly halted the Towson run. However the Tigers would strike two more times before the half. Gillingham and Montalbano each delivered their second goals of the game, which gave the Tigers a 14-1 lead at the half.
  • The two teams traded goals to start the second half as Towson took a 16-3 lead with 22:43 to play.
  • Three straight goals from Towson gave the home team a 19-3 lead with 12:41 showing on the clock. That scoring stretch included the first goal of redshirt freshman midfielder Maddie Dickman's career.
  • The Hatters (0-6) scored back-to-back goals which made it a 19-5 game with 7:06 to play.
  • Towson scored the final three goals of the game which made the final score, 22-5. That final stretch saw freshman attacker Abbe Mona tally her first career goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Ten different Tigers scored in the game. It was the most goal scorers by Towson since they had 10 players score against Old Dominion last year in the NCAA Tournament.
  • The 22 goals scored by the Tigers are the most scored by a Towson squad under head coach Sonia LaMonica and the most scored by a Tiger team since the 2010 team had 23 against Richmond.
  • Sulmonte led Towson with five goals on five shots and added two assists in just 30 minutes of work. Her 11 draw controls tied Hillary Fratzke's record.
  • Brookhart added two goals and six assists. She tied the school record set by Nancy Etzel in 1984.
  • Sophomore attacker Carly Tellekamp and Gillingham both finished with hat tricks in the game. Tellekamp had four goals and two assists while Gillingham struck for three goals.
  • Towson finished with a season-high 14 caused turnovers as 10 Tigers recorded at least one caused turnover. That group was led by freshman defender Olivia Conti who had a game-high three.
