Wilson's Three Hits Lead Towson At Delaware

NEWARK, Del. – The Towson University softball team dropped a pair of tough Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) games to rival Delaware Saturday afternoon. The Tigers lost the opener, 5-4, in extra innings and then fell in the nightcap, 4-0.

How It Happened Game 1
  • Madison Wilson paced the Tigers' offense with three hits.
  • Three of Towson's seven hits were doubles.
  • Delaware earned the win after Mariah Kondravy's two-out RBI single scored Mattie Nuccio in the bottom of the eighth inning.
  • Trailing by two runs late, Towson showcased its fighting spirit.
  • The Tigers forced extra innings when Shelby Stracher's sacrifice fly scored Daria Edwards in the seventh inning with the tying run.
  • Back to doubles leading off the sixth inning from Brook Miko and Nicole Stockinger brought Towson within, 4-3.
  • Things started great for Towson as Kendyl Scott and Wilson had consecutive RBI singles in the second inning that helped the Tigers jump to a 2-0 lead.
  • The Blue Hens took a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning on Leeanna Gearhart's two-out RBI double.
  • Delaware had 14 hits in the opening game.

  • Stracher and Edwards had hits for the Tigers.
  • Stracher doubled for Towson leading off the fifth inning.
  • Caroline Reid was Towson's only other base runner as she walked.
  • Delaware scored twice in the first and second innings.
  • Gearhart, Kondravy, and Alyshia Dellatore combined for six of Delaware's seven hits.
