Angie Benson made a career-high 17 saves but it was not enough as No. 3/3 Florida University earned a 13-6 win over the No. 16/17 Towson University women's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon in Johnny Unitas® Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams traded goals early and found themselves tied at 1-1 with 24:23 to go in the first half.
- Brianna Harris scored for the Gators (3-1) while sophomore attacker Carly Tellekamp had the early goal for the Tigers (3-3).
- A goal from Mollie Stevens at 23:10 jump started an 8-0 run that bridged the first and second halves and gave Florida a 9-1 lead with 21:01 to play in the game.
- Stevens had two goals and an assist during the run while Sammi Burgess struck for three goals and an assist.
- Towson broke up the Florida run with a free position goal from senior attacker Samantha Brookhart with 18:22 to play in the game.
- A pair of goals just 22 seconds apart were part of a 3-0 run that pushed the visitors' advantage with 12-2 with 14:10 to play. Stevens scored her third of the game during that stretch while Burgess picked up a pair of assists.
- Brookhart tallied her second of the day with 5:55 left on the clock off a pass from Tellekamp.
- Freshman midfielder Shelby Stack scored on a free position shot for the Tigers at 4:33, which made it a 12-4 game.
- Following a Florida goal, the Tigers scored the final two goals of the game which made the final score 13-6.
- Tellekamp had a hand in both goals as she scored her team-leading 15th of the year off a pass from fellow sophomore attacker Natalie Sulmonte.
- She then assisted on junior midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano's goal with 1:01 to play in the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Benson became the second Tiger goalie to finish with at least 10 saves in a game this season (Kiley Keating-10 at Georgetown). Her 17 saves against the Gators were the most by a Tiger goalkeeper since Mary Teeters had 20 against UMBC in 2011.
- A large crowd of 1,141 watched the Tigers and Florida on Sunday. It was the biggest home attendance for the Tigers in a non-doubleheader with the men's team since 1,862 people watched the Tigers game against Delaware in 2010.
- Florida held a 47-16 advantage in the shots category and won 13 of the game's 21 draw controls.
- For the fourth straight game, the Tigers recorded double-digit caused turnovers. Senior defender Kelly McQuilkin led the Towson efforts with three caused turnovers.
- McQuilkin also added six groundballs, the most by a Tiger since Nadia Podo had six against Old Dominion last year in the NCAA Tournament.
- Tellekamp led the Tigers with four points on two goals and two assists while Brookhart had two goals. Montalbano finished with a goal, two groundballs and two draw controls.
- Burgess led Florida with three goals and four assists while Stevens had three goals, one assist and six draw controls.
