HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Sophomore attacker
Carly Tellekamp posted her second six-goal game of the season but it was not enough as the No. 13/14 Towson University women's lacrosse team fell at Hofstra University, 17-15 on Sunday afternoon. The Pride outscored the Tigers 10-4 in the second half to secure the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Towson opened the game on a quick 4-0 run and forced Hofstra to call timeout with 25:38 to go in the first. Tellekamp had a pair of early goals while junior midfielder Emily Gillingham had a goal and an assist.
- Hofstra used back-to-back goals to make it a two-goal game, 4-2 with 21:27 to go in the period.
- Junior attacker Jenna Kerr pushed the Tiger lead back to three, 5-2 with 19:19 showing on the clock.
- The Pride rattled off three straight goals and tied the game at 5-5 with 14:16 left in the stanza.
- Towson head coach Sonia LaMonica called timeout and the Tigers responded out of the break with five straight goals, which gave the visitors a 10-5 advantage at 4:37. Tellekamp had three goals during that stretch to secure her second straight hat trick and fifth of the season.
- Senior midfielder Michaela Duranti and junior midfielder Kaitlyn Montalbano also rifled home goals during that scoring spurt.
- Becky Conto score a goal and assisted on a second one, which helped Hofstra make it a 10-7 game with two minutes left in the half.
- Tellekamp scored her sixth of the half with three seconds left on the clock, which sent the Tigers into the break with an 11-7 advantage.
- Back-to-back goals from Alyssa Parrella allowed Hofstra to pull to within two, 11-9 with 24:34 to go in the game.
- Gillingham's second of the day gave Towson (9-5, 2-2 CAA) a 12-9 lead with 23:46 showing on the clock.
- Hofstra (7-6, 1-3 CAA) used a 6-0 run to take a 15-12 advantage with 11:27 left in the stanza. Drew Shapiro scored three times during that stretch for the Pride.
- The Tigers and Pride traded goals over the final 10 minutes of the contest as the visitors were unable to overcome the deficit and fell 17-15.
- Sophomore attacker Natalie Sulmonte scored twice for the Tigers during that stretch to complete her hat trick.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Pride held a 33-30 edge in shots and won the draw control battle, 19-15.
- Maddie Fields made 10 saves to earn the win in goal for the Pride. Sophomore Angie Benson made 12 saves in the loss for the Tigers.
- Tellekamp recorded her second "sock trick" of the season as she finished with six goals on eight shots. It was the third "sock trick" by a Tiger this year (Tellekamp at UMBC and Hofstra, Montalbano versus William & Mary).
- Sulmonte had three goals and five draw controls. Sulmonte now has 61 draw controls on the season which is tied for fourth in single-season history. She is just the third Towson player to ever record 60 or more draw controls in a single-season (Hillary Fratzke – 2006, 2008, 2010 and Becky Trumbo – 2005).
- Freshman defender Olivia Conti led the Towson defensive efforts with three caused turnovers. She now has 37 caused turnovers on the season.
- Parrella led Hofstra with six goals and one assist while also adding four ground balls. Shapiro finished with five goals.
Towson is back in action on Friday, April 21 when it travels to Delaware for a 5 p.m. game.
