Tigers Top HelperHelper Men’s Lacrosse Standings

TOWSON, Md. – During the 2016-17 academic year, the Towson University men's lacrosse team has volunteered with many local organizations, including during the season as the Tigers look to defend their the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) crown.

And no other men's lacrosse team in the NCAA's HelperHelper program racked up more community service hours than the Tigers. Towson finished first in the sport-specific standings, topping Marist College, Canisius College, Monmouth University and CAA foe Fairfield, among others.

The men's lacrosse, in conjunction with the first-place men's basketball program, helped Towson University finish first among men's programs at the NCAA Division I level. Overall as a university, Towson finished sixth in the country and was the top CAA program in terms of total hours and participation rate.

"I think Towson lacrosse does a great job of emphasizing community service. (Head) Coach Nadelen makes it a priority and it really pays off in helping us become closer as a team while giving back to the community," said junior defensive midfielder Adam Ceribelli, who serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) president. "The HelperHelper app gave us the opportunity to get credit for this service on a national level and it helped give our actions even more of a purpose."

Over the course of the academic year, the men's lacrosse team has volunteered at the ZERO Prostate Cancer Walk, the Susan G. Komen Maryland Race for the Cure, HEADstrong Foundation, a youth clinic co-hosted with USO of Metropolitan Baltimore-Washington at NSA Bethesda and served dinner at The Baltimore Station. Additionally, many members of the program volunteered on their own around the Greater Baltimore area.
