TOWSON, Md. – The 2026 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship is on at Unitas Stadium as the No. 16 and 1-seed Towson University hosts 3-seed Stony Brook on Saturday, May 2 at 3:30 p.m.

Towson enters Saturday as the 1-seed and on a nine-game winning streak, defeating 4-seed Monmouth 14-7 on Thursday to stand at 11-3 overall and 6-0 in the CAA. 3-seed Stony Brook knocked off 2-seed Drexel 9-7 on Thursday to be 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the CAA.
Towson has been in the top-20 of the polls the last eight weeks, being at #16 in each the USILA Coaches Poll and the
Inside Lacrosse Media poll. Stony Brook is not ranked in either poll.
Towson has won the last three games against Stony Brook to lead the all-time series 5-2, with the Tigers winning the regular season matchup 13-10 on March 21 on Long Island. This is the first time these two teams will meet in the CAA Tournament with Stony Brook joining the league in the 2023 season.
The winner of the game will earn the 2026 CAA title and the league's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament. Towson is the two-time defending CAA champion, seeking its 11th title.
Stony Brook head coach Anthony Gilardi formerly spent eight years as an associate head coach/assistant coach at Towson from 2012-19, also serving as an assistant coach under
Shawn Nadelen for the U20 USA Team this past summer.
TOWSON - BACK-TO-BACK CAA CHAMPIONS
Towson enters 2026 as the two-time reigning CAA champion, including two undefeated regular seasons and wins in the CAA Tournament, leading to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
Towson has won 10 CAA championships, all coming since 2003. Its back-to-back titles are the first for Towson since winning three straight from 2015-17.
Towson's 10 conference tournament titles, since the establishment of men's lacrosse as a sport in the CAA, are the most in the league. Second is Delaware, which won five before leaving the league in 2025.
24 STRAIGHT CAA REGULAR SEASON WINS
Towson has been dominant in league play, winning the last 24 regular season CAA games dating back to the 2023 season. This includes undefeated CAA regular season records in each 2024, 2025 and 2026. It is the longest consecutive league win streak in program history and the longest currently in Division I.
In addition, Towson has a 25-game winning streak against conference opponents including league tournaments, the tied for the sixth-longest streak in DI history.

TOWSON - RANKED IN NATIONAL POLLS
Towson has been in the national rankings the last eight weeks, standing at #16 in the USILA Coaches Poll and #16 in the
Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after entering the season ranked #15 and #16 in each poll respectively. Towson has finished the past two seasons ranked nationally in the top-15. Towson is also the lone top-20 ranked team in the CAA.
The Tigers defeated now-#8 Virginia on March 7. Other Towson opponents either ranked or receiving votes in the polls include Drexel, Johns Hopkins, Loyola, Saint Joseph's and Villanova.
WEISSHAAR TAKEN SECOND OVERALL IN 2026 PLL DRAFT
Mikey Weisshaar was taken second overall in the 2026 PLL Draft on April 14.
Weisshaar becomes the fifth Tiger to be drafted into the PLL since the outdoor league was founded in 2019 and the highest Towson player to be taken in the PLL Draft. He is the fourth Tiger to be drafted in the top-five, with only Towson, Cornell, Duke and Virginia being able to claim that feat. Weisshaar will join fellow Towson players Ryan Drenner and Zach Goodrich on the Boston Cannons for the upcoming 2026 season.

Mikey Weisshaar became Towson's all-time leader in points, now standing with 228. He also stands second in Towson history with 149 goals. With 228 points in 60 career games played, he is averaging 3.8 points per game.
He stands with three of the top-eight single season records in goals in Towson history plus his 72 points in 2025 was seventh in Towson single season history.
WEISSHAAR - TEWAARATON TROPHY NOMINEE
Mikey Weisshaar has been selected as a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee for the second straight year, solidifying him as one of the top-25 players in the nation.
Weisshaar is the CAA leader in points and assists per game, having tallied up 43 goals and 27 assists for 64 points, also adding 33 ground balls. The senior attack has earned at least three points in 12 of 14 games played this year.

SCOUTING STONY BROOK:
Stony Brook is seeking its first league tournament title since winning the America East in 2012.
Three All-CAA players man a Stony Brook offense averaging 12.73 goals per game, second in the league. All-CAA First Team midfielder Klan McCoy has 19 goals and a team-best 20 assists, aiding two All-CAA Second Team attacks: Collin Williamson has 33 goals and 17 assists while Justin Bonacci has tallied 26 goals and 15 assists.
Baltimore native Tommy Wilk earned All-CAA Second Team at goalkeeper, having a 54.2% save rate and a 10.80 goals allowed average. He is guarded by two other All-CAA Second Teamers: defenseman Ryan Dodge with 13 ground balls and five caused turnovers and CAA Co-Rookie of the Year LSM Kyan East with 33 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Robbie Smith is the primary on the faceoff man, winning 54.8% with 56 ground balls.

NADELEN NAMED HEAD COACH OF U20 MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Towson head coach
Shawn Nadelen was selected as the head coach of the United States Men's U20 National Team. Nadelen coached the U.S. U20 Team to a silver medal finish in 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in South Korea this past summer. Towson assistant coach
Andy Shilling also served in the same role for the U.S. U20 Team.
Nadelen is the second Towson men's lacrosse head coach to lead one of the U.S. National Teams. Tony Seaman, Towson head coach from 1999 to 2011, was the head coach of the U.S. Men's Senior National Team for the 1994 World Lacrosse Championship.

Joaquin Villagomez has returned from injury this season with a strong season, earning All-CAA First Team attack recognition with 59 points off 38 goals and 21 assists in 2026.
The redshirt junior stands with 98 career goals, tied for ninth all-time in Towson history and two away from 100 in his career. On March 7, Villagomez surpassed the career 100-points mark.
