Madison Wilson had four hits and head coach
Lisa Costello earned her 650th career victory as the Towson University softball team split a doubleheader against UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association action at Boseman Field Saturday afternoon.
Towson sprinted to an early lead to win the opening game 4-2. The Seahawks scored all of their runs in the first two innings to earn a 3-0 win and halt a six-game conference losing streak.
Wilson has at least two hits in four of Towson's last five games.

How It Happened Game One
- Kendyl Scott and Wilson combined to go 5-for-7 in the top two spots of the Tiger lineup.
- Scott led Towson with her third three-hit performance of the season.
- Brook Miko and Wilson had two hits each for the Tigers, who snapped a four-game losing streak against CAA opponents.
- The biggest play of the game was made by Holiday Cahill, Towson's all-time home run leader.
- Cahill's beautifully placed and executed suicide squeeze bunt that traveled about four feet in front of home plate scored Wilson in the top of the seventh inning with a much-needed insurance run that expanded Towson's edge to 4-2.
- UNCW scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to shrink Towson's lead to 3-2.
- Daria Edwards extended Towson's lead to 3-0 with a RBI groundout in the top of the second inning.
- Miko gave Towson a quick 2-0 lead with a two-out, two-strike first-inning double with the bases loaded that scored Scott, who singled on the first pitch of the game, and Edwards, who walked.
- Dejter was phenomenal in the circle as she danced in and out of trouble for most of the game with clutch pitches.
- Dejter overcame a rough first inning in which she threw 26 pitches (10 strikes) by getting out of a bases loaded jam.
- Kelsey Bryan and Rachel Willis had two hits each to lead UNCW.
How It Happened Game Two
- Wilson led Towson with two hits.
- Caroline Reid walked twice.
- UNCW scored all of its runs with two outs.
- After scoring once in the first inning, the Seahawks took advantage of a Tiger defensive lapse to score a pair of runs.
- Bryan laid down a bunt, but an errant throw combined with nobody covering first base allowed her and Nella Chamblee to score.
- Towson's final 10 batters of the game were retired after leaving the bases loaded in the fourth inning.
Diamond Gems
- Miko started a 6-3 double play by snagging a hard-hit line drive in the first inning of the opener.
- Cahill threw out a base runner trying to steal in the fifth inning in the opener.
- Also in the opener, Wilson made a great play on a bunt attempt leading off the seventh. As she picked up the ball, she slipped on the dirt and managed to fire a perfect throw to first base to get the base runner by a couple of steps.
Inside the Numbers
- Towson's first inning runs in the opening game was the first time in five games it scored in the opening frame.
- Scott had her team leading 17th multi-hit game in the opener.
- Wilson had multi-hit games in each contest. She has 10 on the season.
- Dejter tossed her 50th career complete game and 18th of the season.
- Dejter is the eighth pitcher in program history with at least 50 complete games. She is tied with Jessica Wides for seventh all-time.
- Cahill's bunt hit was the 186th of her career, moving her into 10th place all-time.
- Cahill has 129 RBIs, which is second in program history.
- Towson has collected double digit hits in a game 16 times this season.
