TOWSON, Md. – Towson University shortstop
Richie Palacios hit a solo home run as part of a three-hit effort in the Tigers 8-1 loss to William & Mary in the third game of a three-game series Sunday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.
How it Happened
- The Tribe (25-21, 9-6 CAA) got on the board in the second inning after a slow roller on the left side of the infield was thrown away, putting the runner at second. Patrick Ryan followed with hitting the next pitch up the middle for a RBI single.
- WM added to the lead in the fourth on a solo home run from Hunter Smith.
- The Tigers (16-25, 4-11 CAA) got a run back in the fifth on a solo home run down the right field line from Palacios. It was the third home run of the season for the sophomore.
- The Tribe extended the lead in the sixth as they scored three runs. After a wild pitch scored a run, Brandon Raquet rolled a ball down the first-base line that stayed just fair to score a run.
- A two-out triple in the seventh helped the Tribe scored their sixth run of the game before Smith drove in two more runs with a double in the eighth.
- Palacios reached safely in all four plate appearances. He went 3-for-3 with a double and a home run, while also reaching on a walk.
- David Marriggi (4-3) took the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits over 5.1 innings.
- Daniel Powers (4-4) allowed just the one run on seven hits over eight innings in picking up the victory.
