Valerie Hajek and
Kendra Sykes scored their first career goals in the Towson University field hockey team's hard fought 4-2 loss to Lock Haven on Friday night in Johnny Unitas® Stadium. Hajek, who finished with a goal and an assist, scored the first goal of the season for the Tigers. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bald Eagles got on the board first at the 4:40 mark as MacKenzie Farley collected a rebound and scored.
- The two teams battled on both ends of the field as Hajek had a pair of early shots and senior Emilee Woodall made three saves on Lock Haven shots.
- Towson got on the board for the first time this season at 18:20 as Hajek rocketed a shot from the top of the circle and tied the game at 1-1.
- Lock Haven took the lead back with a goal from Alyscia Smith at 24:44.
- The Bald Eagles took that 2-1 advantage into the intermission despite five first half saves from Woodall.
- Lock Haven extended its advantage to 3-1 at 37:37 as Smith took the initial shot from just outside the circle and it was deflected into the goal by Anna King.
- Towson continued to push the ball forward when it had the chance and at 54:01 the Tigers got one back.
- Hajek took the initial shot from the top of the circle on the penalty corner and it was deflected into the back of the net by her fellow freshman, Sykes.
- Lock Haven secured the 4-2 win with Smith's second goal of the game at 69:48.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Paige Stuppy made three saves to earn the win in goal for Lock Haven. Woodall finished with eight saves for the Tigers.
- Hajek led the Tigers with three points on her goal and assist. Sykes had two points with her goal.
- The two goals scored by the Tigers were their most goals in a game since they had two against VCU last year on Oct. 14.
- Lock Haven outshot the Tigers 15-5 and held a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners. Â
- Smith led Lock Haven with two goals and an assist.
The Tigers are back on the field on Sunday, Sept. 3 when they host Saint Francis University at noon. The Red Flash suffered a 1-0 loss to Kent State on Friday.
