Tigers Run Past Dragons

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University basketball team used a 13-0 run to close out the first half on the way to a 90-68 victory over Drexel Thursday night inside SECU Arena.

How it Happened
  • After Drexel (7-13, 1-6 CAA) started the game by hitting four-straight shots to open an eight-point lead, the Tigers got going with a Deshaun Morman three-pointer.
  • The triple would ignite the offense as the Tigers quickly took the lead and pushed the advantage to six points on back-to-back three pointers from Mike Morsell and Brian Starr.
  • The hot outside shooting continued over the final 3:20 of the half as Towson went on a 13-0 run to take a 49-33 lead into the locker room.
  • Towson (14-6, 4-3 CAA) used the foul line to keep the margin in double figures in the second half.  Towson went 11-of-15 from the charity stripe over the first 12:16 of the half to maintain the 66-54 advantage.
  • Morman would once again spark the offense with a three-point play and then a thunderous dunk off a steal on the next possession.
  • The Tigers would push the lead to as many as 23 points with 3:49 left to play.
