Women's Basketball Wraps Carolinas Trip on Sunday

Southern Swing: The Tigers wrap up a two-game swing through the Carolinas on Sunday with a 2 p.m. tipoff at the College of Charleston's TD Arena. Towson is looking to bounce back after a loss Friday at Elon.

Series History:  Towson leads the all-time series against the Cougars at 7-5 but will be looking for its first win at TD Arena against Charleston since the 2014-15 season.

Last Time Out: Despite a furious comeback in the third quarter, Towson could not erase the deficit, falling 84-61 at Elon. Four Tigers hit for double digits, paced by a dozen apiece from Mary Cuevas and Danielle Durjan. Raine Bankston and Etalyia Vogt notched 10 points each.

Double Trouble: Towson was balanced on offense Friday night at Elon. Four Tigers put up at least 10 points. Durjan and Cuevas led the way with 12 each. Raine Bankston and Etalyia Vogt scored 10 points apiece at Alumni Gym. It was the first time since Jan. 20, 2017 against William & Mary that the Tigers had at least four players in double figures for a CAA game.

Halfway Surge: After a slow first quarter at Elon in which Towson scored just nine points, the Tigers surged in the second  and third quarters. Towson hit six of its 12 second-quarter shots before hitting eight of 15 from the floor in the third. The 53.3 field goal percentage in the third quarter helped Towson cut the Elon lead down to four. Over the two quarters, the Tigers hit 14-of-27 (51.8%). Etalyia Vogt was key in the second quarter, hitting on four of five from the field and finishing the period with 10 points.

SWAT City: Since league play began, the Tigers have knocked away 44 opponent shots, including six Friday night. Towson has out-blocked four of its seven CAA foes this season. Only twice have the Tigers been out-blocked, with both Towson and William & Mary blocking 11 shots. Towson ranks ninth national in total blocks (114) and sits ninth in blocks per game (6.3). Towson enters Sunday's game with 114 blocks on the season. It is the most blocked shots for a Tiger team since Towson joined the CAA for the 2001-02 season.

Up Next: Towson enjoys a Friday off before hosting a familiar foe in Elon on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at SECU Arena. It will be the second meeting between the two teams in just over a week's time.
