Tigers Visit William & Mary on Sunday

One More On the Road: The Towson University women's basketball team wraps up its Virginia weekend swing as it visits the College of William & Mary on Sunday, Jan. 7. Opening tip from Kaplan Arena is set for 2 p.m. Links to live stats and the video feed can be found on the schedule page of TowsonTigers.com. Fans can also follow the Tigers on Twitter (@Towson_WBB) for updates.

Series History: Towson wraps up its Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) road trip by renewing its series with William & Mary. It will be the 32nd meeting all-time between the Tigers and Tribe. William & Mary leads the series 18-13 after earning a 68-55 win last year in Williamsburg. The Tigers had picked up back-to-back wins before that victory by the Tribe.

Seeing Double: Towson sophomore forward Nukiya Mayo had 16 points and 11 rebounds at James Madison on Friday night. Mayo tied her career-high for rebounds against the Dukes.
It was Mayo's third straight double-double performance and fourth of the season. The Tigers have now seen nine double-double performances from one of their players this season (Mary Cuevas-five, Mayo-four).

We'll Take the Charity: Towson turned in another solid performance from the charity stripe. The Tigers went 10-for-12 (83.3 percent) from the foul line against James Madison. Freshman forward Tess Borgosz was four-for-four from the stripe and is now a perfect eight-for-eight in the last two games. It was the fifth time this season the Tigers have made at least 10 shots from the charity stripe and shot 80 percent or better. Towson ranks second in the CAA for free throw percentage at 71 percent. Sophomore forward Nukiya Mayo leads the Tigers and ranks eighth in the CAA with a 73.4 free throw percentage (47-for-64).

Miss Assist: Towson redshirt senior guard Raine Bankston led the Tigers with five assists at James Madison. That gives the Detroit, Michigan native 29 assists this season. That raised Bankston's career assists total as a Tiger to 181 assists in 73 games. She enters play this weekend ranked 24th in Towson history for career assists. Bankston needs 12 more assists to move into the top 20 for career assists at Towson.

Welcome to the Block Party: The game against William & Mary matches the top two teams in the CAA for blocked shots this season against each other. The Tribe is averaging 7.7 blocked shots per game while the Tigers have a 5.8 blocked shots per game average. William & Mary's Abby Rendle is averaging a league best 4.7 blocks per game while Towson senior forward Mary Cuevas is third in the league while averaging 1.9 blocks per game. Towson as a team has 81 blocks and needs just five more blocks to match their total from a year ago (86 in 30 games).

I'll Take That: Towson has recorded 32 steals through three CAA games this season. In CAA-only contests the Tigers are averaging a league-best 10.7 steals per game. Sophomore forward Nukiya Mayo, junior guard Danielle Durjan and redshirt senior guard Raine Bankston all have six steals through the first three CAA games. Overall, the Tigers have 133 steals and rank fourth in the CAA while averaging 9.5 steals per game. Towson has recorded double-digit steals in six contests this season. Sophomore guard Etalyia Vogt is tied for fourth in the CAA while averaging 2.1 steals per game.

Up Next: Towson returns home to host UNCW on Friday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m.
