NEWARK, Del. - After the rain delayed the game a day, the Towson University women's soccer team traveled to Delaware for a Friday evening conference match that ended in a 2-1 double overtime win for the Tigers.
Two Tigers,
Nikki Logan and
Justine Stoner, scored for Towson (4-11-2, 1-5-1 CAA). Stoner had her sixth goal of the season while Logan had her second.
Delaware's (2-10-1, 1-4-0 CAA) Elizabeth Weimer scored for the Blue Hens. The goal is her first goal of the season.
How it Happened
- Delaware's Riley Dixon took the first shot on goal at the eight-minute mark, and Megan Collins saved it.
- A scramble by the goal caused a rebounded shot by Elizabeth Weimer, assisted by Dixon and Damali Simone-Ponte, to give Delaware the lead at the 7:51 mark.
- Towson followed up with back-to-back shots by Jodie Burchell and Nikki Logan, each saved by Blue Hens goalie Kamryn Stabelin.
- Delaware's Olivia Schuck had a header on goal which went wide.
- Monica Scaglione had a shot for the Tigers saved at the 17-minute mark.
- Collins saved the last shot of the first half taken by Arma Arnthorsdottir. The Blue Hens went into halftime leading 1-0.
- Towson started the second half with a long 25-yard shot by Logan, assisted by McKenzie McCaull, at the 46-minute mark to tie the game up 1-1.
- Delaware followed with three shots, two by Dani Kabat and one by Simon-Ponte, all saved by Collins.
- Towson's Sheyenne Bonnick would shoot at the 75-minute mark, but Kamryn Stabelin would have the save.
- Despite shots by Logan, Christiana Davey and Stoner, the match went into bonus play.
- Delaware's Simone-Ponte had a high shot in the first overtime.
- The Tigers struck back by having Stoner shoot with four minutes left to play, but Stabelin had the save and sent the game into double overtime.
- Towson took three shots in double overtime before a foul on Delaware would set up a penalty kick goal by Stoner to give the Tigers the game 2-1.
