TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University tennis team wrapped up its fall action this weekend at the ITA Regional Tournament hosted by Liberty University and the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Loyola.
How it Happened
- At the Greyhound Invitational the Tigers had Phoebe Collins and Amelia Lawson in the championship game. Collins and Lawson won the doubles match of the championship, defeating Paolo Bou and Mary Jo Pidgeon of Army.
- The pair split up for their singles matches and Lawson took a the lead in her game after trailing early 5-1, but neither would finish their singles games unfortunately due to rain that came in and playing on outside courts.
- In the consolation finals, Claire Bedi and Themis Haliou helped to seal the Tigers win of the backdraw, defeating a pair from Army and Haliou taking a singles victory 6-1 and 6-4 over her Black Knight opponent.
From the Coach
"The four girls who won really deserve a lot of praise," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "They endured a lot of adversity and played winning tennis under pressure against a strong team, I'm very happy."
Looking Ahead
Now that the fall season is in the past, Towson will look to continue training and practice for the 2019 season nearing. The Tigers' spring schedule will be released at a later date.
