Collins Named CAA Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- After a strong week in goal, Towson University women's soccer senior goalkeeper Megan Collins was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement Monday morning.

The North Andover, Massachusetts went 1-0-1 this week as the Tigers kept their playoff hopes alive with four points in the CAA table, topping Delaware 2-1 in double overtime before drawing 0-0 with Drexel. Collins allowed just one goal in 214 minutes of soccer this week, finishing with a goals against average of .420 while making 20 saves, including 14 on her senior day against Drexel. Collins made four saves in the first overtime period to complete her first career shutout.

Hofstra's Sabrina Bryan was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week while Delaware's Toni Starova was selected as the Rookie of the Week.

Towson continues its push for the CAA Tournament this weekend. The Tigers are the lone idle team on Thursday before heading to UNCW on Sunday for a 2 p.m. match at the Seahawks' UNCW Soccer Stadium.
