College of Charleston (8-5-1, 3-1-1) had four players earn points for the Cougars. Hannah Farmer, Rachel Kim and Raymara Barreto each scored for the Cougars while Laura Ortega had an assist.
How it Happened
- Back-to-back shots were taken early for both teams but it was the Tigers' Burchell who struck first with her first career goal, assisted by Nikki Logan at the 10 minute mark. Logan took a shot that was initially saved by Charleston's keeper, Genevieve Henderson. Burchell collected the rebound and finished.
- Ortega took two shots on goal for the Cougars but both chances were saved by Towson's starting goalie, Megan Collins.
- A header shot by Jenna Blank for Towson was saved by Genevieve Henderson at the 16 minute mark. The Cougars took three more shots on goal by three different players. Towson countered with shots by Evelyn Neidert and Sheyenne Bonnick.
- A corner kick by Towson's Monica Scaglione set up Renee Gast for a header but it was wide left.
- Towson's Elizabeth Coletti took a chest pass from Evelyn Neidert before sending in a cross to Afton Kalkoske for the Tigers' second goal of the game in the 42nd minute.
- A goal by the Cougars' Farmer 45 seconds later sent the match into halftime 2-1 in favor of the Tigers.
- Charleston tied the match in the 68th minute as Ortega chipped in a set piece following a Towson foul to the waiting head of Kim for the goal.
- Two minutes later, Charleston broke the tie with its third-straight goal as Barreto ripped a shot from 35 yards out.
- The Tigers retied the game at 3-3 in the 84th minute as Coletti took a pass from Monica Scaglione as the former then sailed in a perfect cross to Blank for the equalizer.
- Charleston applied the pressure early in the first overtime period taking three shots along with one corner in the first three minutes of extra time. The Tigers got a pair of chances, including a solid look off the foot of Christiana Davey.
- In the waning moments of the first extra time, Towson got back-to-back shots from Blank and Logan, but both chances were halted by Charleston's backup keeper Meredith Holton.
- Towson had the first chance in the second overtime with a corner kick and a shot from Camryn Anderson, but neither chance found the net. Collins got one last test in the 108th minute but made the easy stop against Katrina Koomen.
