Towson Invades William & Mary For First-Place Battle

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University men's basketball team visits William & Mary with first-place on the line in the second Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest of the season for both squads.

  • This was the second time this season that Fobbs and Howard scored 20 points in the same game. The pair did it against Loyola.
 
A Look At William & Mary
  • The Tribe are led by junior Nathan Knight, who averages 19.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per contest. Knight is also shooting 57.9 percent and has 23 blocked shots.
  • Also averaging double figures for W&M are Justin Pierce (16.5 points per game) and Matt Milon (11.1).
  • In its win over JMU, Pierce flirted with the triple-double totaling 20 points, 10 reboundsand seven assists to go along with four steals. It was his sixth double-double of the year. Freshman Chase Audige tallied 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, while Knight turned in a nice stat line of 17 points, eight rebounds, six blocked shots and four assists.
  • William & Mary is 4-2 at home this season.
  • The Tribe allow 80.0 points per game.
 
Tigers Featured On CAA Broadcast Package
  • For the second consecutive season, 12 CAA men's basketball conference games will be televised by CBS Sports Digital on CollegeSportsLive.com.
  • Towson University men's basketball will be featured twice on the schedule for its home contests on Jan. 24 against Northeastern and Feb. 28 versus William & Mary inside of SECU Arena. 
  • All 10 CAA teams will have at least two contests on the "Game of the Week" package, with Charleston, Hofstra, Northeastern and William and Mary making three appearances.
 
Perfection When It Comes to Graduation
  • Towson has a perfect men's basketball graduation rate under head coach Pat Skerry.
  • The Tigers are 21-for-21.
 
Towson In the Community
  • Towson is the Division I national champion of the NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Competition for the Fall 2018 semester. Towson completed the most community service hours among all schools in the competition, including 75 different Division I departments and approximately 300 total programs across the country.
  • The Towson men's basketball team has been active in the community since returning to campus in August. Members of the team spoke at Loch Raven Academy, participated in Towson West Elementary School's Back To School Night and the Autism Speaks Walk.
  • In addition to the athletic and academic success, the Tigers ranked first nationally in Division I men's team sports for their community service activities in the 2017 NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Community Service Competition.
 
Coaches Powering Forward
  • Autism Speaks Coaches Powering Forward will take place on the weekend of February 15-17, 2019.
  • The Tigers host Drexel on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
  • Last season, more than 375 NCAA coaches participated by wearing an Autism Speaks blue puzzle piece lapel pin to help increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism.
  • In total, more than 4,400 pins were worn by coaching staff, officials, broadcasters, and school teams.
  • Autism currently affects one in every 59 children in the U.S and for most, is a lifelong condition.
