Gillingham Leads No. 19 Tigers Over Hoyas in Redo

TOWSON, Md. – A day later but certainly not a dollar short, the No. 19 Towson University women's lacrosse team used a big scoring to top visiting Georgetown 21-13 Sunday afternoon at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.

After fast and heavy snows fell over Towson yesterday evening, coupled with a pair of quick power outages, officials decided to restart the Saturday contest as a 0-0 game on Sunday. Towson was leading the Hoyas 9-3 with 14:16 left to play in Saturday's game before it was postponed.

Towson (2-0) senior midfielder Emily Gillingham finished with a game-high eight points thanks to seven goals and one assist. Carly Tellekamp and Kaitlin Thornton joined in the hat trick club, with the latter added three assists to her day.

  • Towson scored four of the game's next five goals, getting back-to-back goals from Thornton and Kaitlyn Montalbano at 8:00 and 6:35, respectively. Gebhardt broke up the run, but Cha and Sachs finished the half with goals on Thornton assists as the Tigers assumed a 10-5 halftime advantage.
