Tigers Open Final Weekend on the Road at UNCW

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team opens the final weekend of the regular season with a quick trip to North Carolina. The Tigers play their final road game of the regular season on Thursday evening at Trask Coliseum, with opening tipoff set for 7 p.m.

The Fast Break
  • The Tigers (9-18, 4-12 CAA) make their final road trip before the 2018 CAA Women's Basketball Tournament, hosted at Drexel University next week.
  • The Tigers are going for the season sweep of the Seahawks after besting UNCW 72-71 at SECU Arena on Jan. 12.
  • Towson has not swept the Seahawks since the 2012-13 season, winning 55-53 at home in the Towson Center before a 66-57 win at Trask Coliseum to cap the regular season.
  • The Tigers' final game of the 2017-18 regular season will be Saturday afternoon against long-time foe Delaware. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
  • Prior to the game, the program will honor its five-member senior class: Raine Bankston, Daijha Thomas and Mary Cuevas.

  • The Tigers rank 10th in Division in total blocks this season and second in the CAA behind William & Mary.
  • The Tigers are 14th nationally in blocked shots per game, putting aside 6.0 on average, which also ranks second in the league.
  • Mary Cuevas is 28th in the country in individual blocked shots with 62 so far in 2017-18. Nukiya Mayo is also ranked 134th in the country in blocks (37).
  • Likewise, Cuevas is also 30th in Division I in blocks per game, bumping away 2.30 per outing, which is second in the league.
Shine the Glass

  • Towson ranks fourth in the country in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 18 per outing.
  • The Tigers have hauled in 475 offensive rebounds this year, which ranks fourth in total nationally and first in the CAA.
  • A big-time contributor to that ranking is Nukiya Mayo. The sophomore forward reels in five offensive rebounds per game, which ranks first in the league and fourth in the country. She has 137 total offensive rebounds, which is good enough for fifth in total among Division I student-athletes.
